Fall in College Station: Events, Weather, and Family Fun

Fall has finally arrived in College Station, and you can already feel the change in the air. The long, hot Texas summer is slowly giving way to cooler evenings, golden sunsets, and that cozy autumn feeling. For students, families, and locals, this season is a perfect time to explore, relax, and enjoy what our town has to offer.

The Weather Shift

September and October bring a welcome break from the Texas heat. Days are still warm, but mornings and evenings are cooler, making it much more enjoyable to spend time outside. It’s the best season for evening walks, park visits, or simply sitting outside with a coffee. Don’t forget a light jacket, thoughβ€”the temperature can change quickly once the sun goes down.

Texas A&M Spirit

Fall also means football season! Texas A&M home games bring energy and excitement to College Station. Even if you don’t have tickets to Kyle Field, the atmosphere in town is worth experiencing. Restaurants, bars, and even grocery stores feel different on game days. If you’re new to the area, it’s a tradition you should see at least once.

Family-Friendly Activities

One of the highlights of fall is visiting a pumpkin patch. Local farms and markets offer hayrides, corn mazes, and plenty of photo opportunities for kids and families. Bryan’s downtown also hosts seasonal events, live music, and farmers markets that are perfect for a relaxed weekend outing.

For families with young children, parks like Stephen C. Beachy Central Park or Lick Creek Park are great spots to enjoy cooler weather. Pack a picnic, let the kids play, and enjoy the fresh autumn air.

Food and Cozy Moments

Fall is also the season for comfort food. Local coffee shops start offering pumpkin spice lattes, apple cider, and warm pastries. After a long week, grabbing a seasonal drink and heading to a quiet spot to watch the sunset feels like a small but perfect Texas tradition.

Fall in College Station is more than just a seasonβ€”it’s a chance to slow down, enjoy family time, and connect with the community. From football games to pumpkin patches, there’s something for everyone. So grab your jacket, bring your family or friends, and make the most of this beautiful time of year.

Happy fall, y’all! 🍁

Weekend Escape to Corpus Christi: A Family Road Trip from College Station

Sometimes, the best way to recharge is to hit the road. Last weekend, we packed our beach bags, loaded up the cars, and headed south for a two-day family getaway in Corpus Christi! πŸš—β˜€οΈ

Two families, two kids, and a beach Airbnb β€” it was the perfect recipe for sun, laughter, and some unforgettable Texas memories. Here’s how our trip unfolded, stop by stop:

πŸ—ΊοΈ Our Route:
College Station β†’ Brenham β†’ Luling β†’ Victoria β†’ Corpus Christi

β˜• Stop 1: Brenham, TX
Our first stop was the charming town of Brenham, known for its small-town vibe and β€” of course β€” Blue Bell Ice Cream! We grabbed our ice cream and let the kids enjoy a quick run around the historic downtown area. The murals and old buildings make it a great photo spot, too.

πŸ›’οΈ Stop 2: Luling, TX
Next up: Luling, home of the famous Watermelon Thump Festival and a must-visit for its quirky downtown. Of course, we couldn’t pass through without stopping at City Market β€” one of Texas’ iconic BBQ spots. We had some mouthwatering brisket that was absolutely worth the wait! πŸ–πŸ”₯

🌿 Stop 3: Victoria, TX
By now, the kids were dozing off in the backseat. But in Victoria, we made one last refresh stop and walked briefly in Riverside Park, one of the largest urban parks in Texas. The breeze under the tall oaks was just what we needed.

πŸ–οΈ Destination: Corpus Christi, TX
Finally, Corpus Christi greeted us with salty air and warm winds! We checked into our Airbnb just a few blocks from the beach. The rest of the weekend was all about sandcastles, barbecues, and chasing waves with the kids. πŸŒ…

From Padre Island National Seashore to a quick stop at the Texas State Aquarium, we made the most of every minute. The kids loved it, and so did we.
